* defaultenv: add defaultenv-1 in boards via defaultenv_append_directory()Sascha Hauer2016-10-103-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently it's hardcoded for each board which defaultenv version is used. This is unfortunate since some people like the other defaultenv version better and may want to select it. This patch removes the board specific environment path CONFIG_DEFAULT_ENVIRONMENT_PATH and instead adds it via: if (IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_DEFAULT_ENVIRONMENT_GENERIC)) defaultenv_append_directory(defaultenv_<board>); This way we can make sure that the defaultenv-1 board specific bits are only compiled in when defaultenv-1 is actually in use. The next step is to make the defaultenv version selection a user visible choice. Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>
* imx35-regs: add and use common CGR element shiftersAlexander Kurz2016-07-041-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | Add some missing Clock Gate Register element shifters which were implemented as magic numbers in the arm/boards directory. Use the new shifters for inproved code readability. Signed-off-by: Alexander Kurz <akurz@blala.de> Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>
* ARM i.MX: de-duplicate PLL initializer macrosAlexander Kurz2016-07-042-8/+0
| | | | | | | | | Macros for three PLL setups got cloned in different board specific subdirs. Re-unify those macros into a common place and avoid checkpatch 80-char warnings when creating a new board subdir. * commands: harmonize in-barebox documentationHolger Schurig2014-05-141-7/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch does probably too much, but it's hard (and very cumbersome/time consuming) to break it out. What is does is this: * each command has one short description, e.g. "list MUX configuration" * made sure the short descriptions start lowercase * each command has one usage. That string contains just the options, e.g. "[-npn]". It's not part of the long help text. * that is, it doesn't say "[OPTIONS]" anymore, every usable option is listed by character in this (short) option string (the long description is in the long help text, as before) * help texts have been reworked, to make them - sometimes smaller - sometimes describe the options better - more often present themselves in a nicer format * all long help texts are now created with BUSYBOX_CMD_HELP_ macros, no more 'static const __maybe_unused char cmd_foobar_help[]' * made sure the long help texts starts uppercase * because cmdtp->name and cmdtp->opts together provide the new usage, all "Usage: foobar" texts have been removed from the long help texts * BUSYBOX_CMD_HELP_TEXT() provides the trailing newline by itself, this is nicer in the source code * BUSYBOX_CMD_HELP_OPT() provides the trailing newline by itself * made sure no line gets longer than 77 characters * delibertely renamed cmdtp->usage, so that we can get compile-time errors (e.g. in out-of-tree modules that use register_command() * the 'help' command can now always emit the usage, even without compiled long help texts * 'help -v' gives a list of commands with their short description, this is similar like the old "help" command before my patchset * 'help -a' gives out help of all commands Signed-off-by: Holger Schurig <holgerschurig@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>
* commands: group 'help' outputHolger Schurig2014-05-141-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The old output of "help" was just producing a long list, that usually scrolled of the screen (even on a X11 terminal). This list is more compact, and also sorted by groups. The old output format (plus grouping) is now available with 'help -v'. Example: Information commands: ?, devinfo, help, iomem, meminfo, version Boot commands: boot, bootm, go, loadb, loads, loadx, loady, saves, uimage ... * ARM: change signature of barebox_arm_entryLucas Stach2014-05-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Mostly to make it clear that boarddata needs to be something we can dereference. As this is a pretty invasive change, use the opportunity to make the signature 64bit safe. Signed-off-by: Lucas Stach <l.stach@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>
* treewide: fix signedness mixups in printf format specifiersLucas Stach2014-04-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This most likely doesn't fix any real bugs, but it's the right thing to do and reduces the noise level with static checkers. Signed-off-by: Lucas Stach <dev@lynxeye.de> Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>

* ARM: i.MX: cleanup bootmode selectionSascha Hauer2014-01-311-10/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | Which bootmode is selected has no longer to be chosen by Kconfig. The boards can decide themselves which bootmode they want to support. This makes it unnecesary to ask the user which bootmode shall be supported, so the "Select boot mode" becomes invisible and both support will be compiled in as needed by the boards. NAND_IMX_BOOT goes away and the already existing ARCH_IMX_EXTERNAL_BOOT_NAND can now be used for the boards to depend on external nand boot. Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>

| * Set model and hostname at boardlevelSascha Hauer2013-08-162-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With multiboard support the compiletime generated BOARDINFO string gets more and more meaningless. This removes it from Kconfig and replaces it with a variable that can be set at boardlevel. Also many boards have a standard setting for the hostname in the environment. This patch also moves the standard to C code by calling barebox_set_hostname(). Signed-off-by: Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>

| * ARM: give boards control of the reset entry pointJan Luebbe2012-09-271-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On some SoCs (for example AM35xx), the ROM bootloader passes useful information in r0 when jumping to barebox. To avoid overwriting this in the generic reset code, we introduce common_reset as a C function and as an assembler macro. This is then called form the reset entry point (either in common or in board code). This patch is based on code by Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>.
