Add channelized messaging driver to support native RapidIO messaging
exchange between multiple senders/recipients on devices that use kernel
RapidIO subsystem services.
This device driver is the result of collaboration within the RapidIO.org
Software Task Group (STG) between Texas Instruments, Prodrive
Technologies, Nokia Networks, BAE and IDT. Additional input was
received from other members of RapidIO.org.
The objective was to create a character mode driver interface which
exposes messaging capabilities of RapidIO endpoint devices (mports)
directly to applications, in a manner that allows the numerous and
varied RapidIO implementations to interoperate.
This char mode device driver allows user-space applications to setup
messaging communication channels using single shared RapidIO messaging
mailbox.
By default this driver uses RapidIO MBOX_1 (MBOX_0 is reserved for use by
RIONET Ethernet emulation driver).

The header file "include/linux/nilfs2_fs.h" is composed of parts for
ioctl and disk format, and both are intended to be shared with user
space programs.
This moves them to the uapi directory "include/uapi/linux" splitting the
file to "nilfs2_api.h" and "nilfs2_ondisk.h". The following minor
changes are accompanied by this migration:
- nilfs_direct_node struct in nilfs2/direct.h is converged to
nilfs2_ondisk.h because it's an on-disk structure.
- inline functions nilfs_rec_len_from_disk() and
nilfs_rec_len_to_disk() are moved to nilfs2/dir.c.

Add a "printk.devkmsg" kernel command line parameter which controls how
userspace writes into /dev/kmsg. It has three options:
* ratelimit - ratelimit logging from userspace.
* on - unlimited logging from userspace
* off - logging from userspace gets ignored
The default setting is to ratelimit the messages written to it.
This changes the kernel default setting of "on" to "ratelimit" and we do
that because we want to keep userspace spamming /dev/kmsg to sane
levels. This is especially moot when a small kernel log buffer wraps
around and messages get lost. So the ratelimiting setting should be a
sane setting where kernel messages should have a bit higher chance of
survival from all the spamming.
It additionally does not limit logging to /dev/kmsg while the system is
booting if we haven't disabled it on the command line.
Furthermore, we can control the logging from a lower priority sysctl
interface - kernel.printk_devkmsg.
That interface will succeed only if printk.devkmsg *hasn't* been
supplied on the command line. If it has, then printk.devkmsg is a
one-time setting which remains for the duration of the system lifetime.
This "locking" of the setting is to prevent userspace from changing the
logging on us through sysctl(2).

"Kernel side caching and executable bugfix
This allows OrangeFS to utilize the dcache and adds an in kernel
attribute cache. We previously used the user side client for this
purpose.
We see a modest performance increase on small file operations. For
example, without the cache, compiling coreutils takes about 17
minutes. With the patch and a 50 millisecond timeout for
dcache_timeout_msecs and getattr_timeout_msecs (the default),
compiling coreutils takes about 6 minutes 20 seconds. On the same
hardware, compiling coreutils on an xfs filesystem takes 90 seconds.
We see similar improvements with mdtest and a test involving writing,
reading, and deleting a large number of small files.

The eventual goal of this is to allow getdents to turn into a
readdirplus to the OrangeFS server. The cache will be filled then,
which should provide a performance benefit to the common case of
readdir followed by getattr on each entry (i.e. ls -l).
This also fixes a bug. When orangefs_inode_permission was added, it
did not collect i_size from the OrangeFS server, since this presses an
unnecessary load on the OrangeFS server. However, it left a case
where i_size is never initialized. Then running an executable could
fail.
With this patch, size is always collected to be inserted into the
cache. Thus the bug disappears. If this patch is not accepted during
this merge window, we will send a one-line band-aid for this bug
instead"

Set the affinity_mask in the PCI device before allocating vectors so that
the affinity can be propagated through the MSI descriptor structures to the
core IRQ code. To facilitate this, new __pci_enable_msi_range() and
__pci_enable_msix_range() helpers are factored out of their not prefixed
variants which assigning the new IRQ affinity mask in the PCI device so
that the low-level interrupt code can perform the interrupt affinity
assignment and do node-local allocations.
A new PCI_IRQ_NOAFFINITY flag is added to pci_alloc_irq_vectors() so that
this function can also be used by drivers that don't wish to use the
automatic affinity assignment.

Add a function to allocate and free a range of interrupt vectors, using
MSI-X, MSI or legacy vectors (in that order) based on the capabilities of
the underlying device and PCIe complex.
Additionally a new helper is provided to get the Linux IRQ number for given
device-relative vector so that the drivers don't need to allocate their own
arrays to keep track of the vectors for the multi vector MSI-X case.

Some uio-based PCI drivers, e.g., uio_cif do not work if the assigned PCI
memory resources are not page aligned.
By using the kernel option "pci=resource_alignment" it is possible to force
single PCI boards to use page alignment for their memory resources.
However, this is fairly cumbersome if several of these boards are in use
as the specification of the cards has to be done via PCI bus/slot/function
number which might change, e.g., by adding another board.
Extend the kernel option "pci=resource_alignment" to allow specification of
relevant devices via PCI device/vendor (and subdevice/subvendor) IDs. The
specification of the devices via device/vendor is indicated by a leading
string "pci:" as argument to "pci=resource_alignment". The format of the
specification is pci:<vendor>:<device>[:<subvendor>:<subdevice>]

Currently the Linux PCI core does not touch power state of PCI bridges and
PCIe ports when system suspend is entered. Leaving them in D0 consumes
power unnecessarily and may prevent the CPU from entering deeper C-states.
With recent PCIe hardware we can power down the ports to save power given
that we take into account few restrictions:
- The PCIe port hardware is recent enough, starting from 2015.
- Devices connected to PCIe ports are effectively in D3cold once the port
is transitioned to D3 (the config space is not accessible anymore and
the link may be powered down).
- Devices behind the PCIe port need to be allowed to transition to D3cold
and back. There is a way both drivers and userspace can forbid this.
- If the device behind the PCIe port is capable of waking the system it
needs to be able to do so from D3cold.
This patch adds a new flag to struct pci_device called 'bridge_d3'. This
flag is set and cleared by the PCI core whenever there is a change in power
management state of any of the devices behind the PCIe port. When system
later on is suspended we only need to check this flag and if it is true
transition the port to D3 otherwise we leave it in D0.
Also provide override mechanism via command line parameter
"pcie_port_pm=[off|force]" that can be used to disable or enable the
feature regardless of the BIOS manufacturing date.

A user may hot add a switch requiring more than one bus to enumerate. This
previously required a system reboot if BIOS did not sufficiently pad the
bus resource, which they frequently don't do.
Add a kernel parameter so a user can specify the minimum number of bus
numbers to reserve for a hotplug bridge's subordinate buses so rebooting
won't be necessary.
The default is 1, which is equivalent to previous behavior.

The 7.2 controller differs in a few area compared to its predecssor (7.1):
- NAND scrambler, which we are not using just yet
- higher ECC levels (up to 120 bits) per 1KB data blocks, also not supported yet
- up to 128B OOB

generation and updates the Device Tree binding.

Enable Coccinelle SmPL patches to require a specific version of
Coccinelle. In the event that the version does not match we just
inform the user, if the user asked to go through all SmPL patches
we just inform them of the need for a new version of coccinelle for
the SmPL patch and continue on with the rest.
This uses the simple kernel scripts/ld-version.sh to create a weight
on the version provided by spatch. The -dirty attribute is ignored if
supplied, the benefit of scripts/ld-version.sh is it has a long history
and well tested.
While at it, document the // Options stuff as well.

Coccinelle supports reading .cocciconfig, the order of precedence for
variables for .cocciconfig is as follows:
o Your current user's home directory is processed first
o Your directory from which spatch is called is processed next
o The directory provided with the --dir option is processed last, if used
Since coccicheck runs through make, it naturally runs from the kernel
proper dir, as such the second rule above would be implied for picking up a
.cocciconfig when using 'make coccicheck'.
'make coccicheck' also supports using M= targets.If you do not supply
any M= target, it is assumed you want to target the entire kernel.
The kernel coccicheck script has:

KBUILD_EXTMOD is set when an explicit target with M= is used. For both cases
the spatch --dir argument is used, as such third rule applies when
whether M= is used or not, and when M= is used the target directory can
have its own .cocciconfig file. When M= is not passed as an argument to
coccicheck the target directory is the same as the directory from where
spatch was called.
If not using the kernel's coccicheck target, keep the above precedence order
logic of .cocciconfig reading. If using the kernel's coccicheck target,
override any of the kernel's .coccicheck's settings using SPFLAGS.
We help Coccinelle when used against Linux with a set of sensible defaults
options for Linux with our own Linux .cocciconfig. This hints to coccinelle
git can be used for 'git grep' queries over coccigrep. A timeout of 200
seconds should suffice for now.
The options picked up by coccinelle when reading a .cocciconfig do not appear
as arguments to spatch processes running on your system, to confirm what
options will be used by Coccinelle run:
spatch --print-options-only
You can override with your own preferred index option by using SPFLAGS.
Coccinelle supports both glimpse and idutils. Glimpse had historically
provided the best performance, however recent benchmarks reveal idutils
is performing just as well. Due to some recent fixes however you however
will need at least coccinelle >= 1.0.6 if using idutils.
Coccinelle carries a script scripts/idutils_index.sh which creates the
idutils database with as follows:
mkid -i C --output .id-utils.index
If using just "--use-idutils" coccinelle expects your idutils database to be
on the top level of the kernel as a file named ".id-utils.index". If you do
not use this you can symlink your database file to it, or you can specify the
database file following the "--use-idutils" argument. Examples:
make SPFLAGS=--use-idutils coccicheck
This assumes you have $srctree/.id-utils.index, where $srctree is
the top level of the kernel.
make SPFLAGS="--use-idutils /full-path/to/ID" coccicheck
Here you specify the full path of the idutils ID database. Using
.cocciconfig is possible, however given the order of precedence followed
by Coccinelle, and since the kernel now carries its own .cocciconfig,
you will need to use SPFLAGS to use idutils if desired.

This will be come more useful once we add support to
use more things which would go into stderr, such as

Coccinelle has had parmap support since 1.0.2, this means
it supports --jobs, enabling built-in multithreaded functionality,
instead of needing one to script it out. Just look for --jobs
in the help output to determine if this is supported and use it
only if your number of processors detected is > 1.
If parmap is enabled also enable the load balancing to be dynamic, so
that if a thread finishes early we keep feeding it.
stderr is currently sent to /dev/null, addressing a way to capture
that will be addressed next.
If --jobs is not supported we fallback to the old mechanism.
We expect to deprecate the old mechanism as soon as we can get
confirmation all users are ready.
While at it propagate back into the shell script any coccinelle error
code. When used in serialized mode where all cocci files are run this
also stops processing if an error has occured. This lets us handle some
errors in coccinelle cocci files and if they bail out we should inspect
the errors. This will be more useful later to help annotate coccinelle
version dependency requirements. This will let you run only SmPL files
that your system supports.
Extend Documentation/coccinelle.txt as well.
As a small example, prior to this change, on an 8-core system:

SPFLAGS is set early, it means that any heuristics done on
coccicheck cannot be overridden currently. Move SPFLAGS
after OPTIONS and set this at the end. This lets you override
any heuristics as coccinelle treats conflicts by only listening
to the last option that makes sense.

This patch allows to build the whole kernel with GCC plugins. It was ported from
grsecurity/PaX. The infrastructure supports building out-of-tree modules and
building in a separate directory. Cross-compilation is supported too.
Currently the x86, arm, arm64 and uml architectures enable plugins.
The directory of the gcc plugins is scripts/gcc-plugins. You can use a file or a directory
there. The plugins compile with these options:
* -fno-rtti: gcc is compiled with this option so the plugins must use it too
* -fno-exceptions: this is inherited from gcc too
* -fasynchronous-unwind-tables: this is inherited from gcc too
* -ggdb: it is useful for debugging a plugin (better backtrace on internal
errors)
* -Wno-narrowing: to suppress warnings from gcc headers (ipa-utils.h)
* -Wno-unused-variable: to suppress warnings from gcc headers (gcc_version
variable, plugin-version.h)
The infrastructure introduces a new Makefile target called gcc-plugins. It
supports all gcc versions from 4.5 to 6.0. The scripts/gcc-plugin.sh script
chooses the proper host compiler (gcc-4.7 can be built by either gcc or g++).
This script also checks the availability of the included headers in
scripts/gcc-plugins/gcc-common.h.
The gcc-common.h header contains frequently included headers for GCC plugins
and it has a compatibility layer for the supported gcc versions.
The gcc-generate-*-pass.h headers automatically generate the registration
structures for GIMPLE, SIMPLE_IPA, IPA and RTL passes.
Note that 'make clean' keeps the *.so files (only the distclean or mrproper
targets clean all) because they are needed for out-of-tree modules.

Introduce a new KVM device that represents an ARM Interrupt Translation
Service (ITS) controller. Since there can be multiple of this per guest,
we can't piggy back on the existing GICv3 distributor device, but create
a new type of KVM device.
On the KVM_CREATE_DEVICE ioctl we allocate and initialize the ITS data
structure and store the pointer in the kvm_device data.
Upon an explicit init ioctl from userland (after having setup the MMIO
address) we register the handlers with the kvm_io_bus framework.
Any reference to an ITS thus has to go via this interface.

The ARM GICv3 ITS MSI controller requires a device ID to be able to
assign the proper interrupt vector. On real hardware, this ID is
sampled from the bus. To be able to emulate an ITS controller, extend
the KVM MSI interface to let userspace provide such a device ID. For
PCI devices, the device ID is simply the 16-bit bus-device-function
triplet, which should be easily available to the userland tool.
Also there is a new KVM capability which advertises whether the
current VM requires a device ID to be set along with the MSI data.
This flag is still reported as not available everywhere, later we will
enable it when ITS emulation is used.

We will use illegal instruction 0x0000 for handling 2 byte sw breakpoints
from user space. As it can be enabled dynamically via a capability,
let's move setting of ICTL_OPEREXC to the post creation step, so we avoid
any races when enabling that capability just while adding new cpus.

Add KVM_X2APIC_API_DISABLE_BROADCAST_QUIRK as a feature flag to
KVM_CAP_X2APIC_API.
The quirk made KVM interpret 0xff as a broadcast even in x2APIC mode.
The enableable capability is needed in order to support standard x2APIC and
remain backward compatible.

KVM_CAP_X2APIC_API is a capability for features related to x2APIC
enablement. KVM_X2APIC_API_32BIT_FORMAT feature can be enabled to
extend APIC ID in get/set ioctl and MSI addresses to 32 bits.
Both are needed to support x2APIC.
The feature has to be enableable and disabled by default, because
get/set ioctl shifted and truncated APIC ID to 8 bits by using a
non-standard protocol inspired by xAPIC and the change is not
backward-compatible.
Changes to MSI addresses follow the format used by interrupt remapping
unit. The upper address word, that used to be 0, contains upper 24 bits
of the LAPIC address in its upper 24 bits. Lower 8 bits are reserved as
0. Using the upper address word is not backward-compatible either as we
didn't check that userspace zeroed the word. Reserved bits are still
not explicitly checked, but non-zero data will affect LAPIC addresses,
which will cause a bug.

Allow up to 6 KVM guest KScratch registers to be enabled and accessed
via the KVM guest register API and from the guest itself (the fallback
reading and writing of commpage registers is sufficient for KScratch
registers to work as expected).
User mode can expose the registers by setting the appropriate bits of
the guest Config4.KScrExist field. KScratch registers that aren't usable
won't be writeable via the KVM Ioctl API.

KVM: s390: Features and fixes for 4.8 part1
Four bigger things:
1. The implementation of the STHYI opcode in the kernel. This is used
in libraries like qclib [1] to provide enough information for a
capacity and usage based software licence pricing. The STHYI content
is defined by the related z/VM documentation [2]. Its data can be
composed by accessing several other interfaces provided by LPAR or
the machine. This information is partially sensitive or root-only
so the kernel does the necessary filtering.
2. Preparation for nested virtualization (VSIE). KVM should query the
proper sclp interfaces for the availability of some features before
using it. In the past we have been sloppy and simply assumed that
several features are available. With this we should be able to handle
most cases of a missing feature.
3. CPU model interfaces extended by some additional features that are
not covered by a facility bit in STFLE. For example all the crypto
instructions of the coprocessor provide a query function. As reality
tends to be more complex (e.g. export regulations might block some
algorithms) we have to provide additional interfaces to query or
set these non-stfle features.
4. Several fixes and changes detected and fixed when doing 1-3.
All features change base s390 code. All relevant patches have an ACK
from the s390 or component maintainers.
The next pull request for 4.8 (part2) will contain the implementation
of VSIE.

Let's not provide the device attribute for cmma enabling and clearing
if the hardware doesn't support it.
This also helps getting rid of the undocumented return value "-EINVAL"
in case CMMA is not available when trying to enable it.
Also properly document the meaning of -EINVAL for CMMA clearing.

We have certain instructions that indicate available subfunctions via
a query subfunction (crypto functions and ptff), or via a test bit
function (plo).
By exposing these "subfunction blocks" to user space, we allow user space
to
1) query available subfunctions and make sure subfunctions won't get lost
during migration - e.g. properly indicate them via a CPU model
2) change the subfunctions to be reported to the guest (even adding
unavailable ones)
This mechanism works just like the way we indicate the stfl(e) list to
user space.
This way, user space could even emulate some subfunctions in QEMU in the
future. If this is ever applicable, we have to make sure later on, that
unsupported subfunctions result in an intercept to QEMU.
Please note that support to indicate them to the guest is still missing
and requires hardware support. Usually, the IBC takes already care of these
subfunctions for migration safety. QEMU should make sure to always set
these bits properly according to the machine generation to be emulated.
Available subfunctions are only valid in combination with STFLE bits
retrieved via KVM_S390_VM_CPU_MACHINE and enabled via
KVM_S390_VM_CPU_PROCESSOR. If the applicable bits are available, the
indicated subfunctions are guaranteed to be correct.
