Thus move the corresponding assignment into an if branch to indicate a software failure there. This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software. Based on Markos Chandras <Markos.Chandras@imgtec.com> patch https://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/6719/ which while very similar did no longer apply cleanly when I tried to merge it plus some additional post-SMTC cleanup - SMTC was a feature as tricky to remove as it was to merge once upon a time. I figured it out when I was going through sched-domains.txt and so thought of fixing it globally. I haven't crossed check if the stuff that is referenced in sched/core.c by all these files is still present and hasn't changed as that wasn't the motive behind this patch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Replace all lock_cpu_hotplug/unlock_cpu_hotplug from the kernel and use get_online_cpus and put_online_cpus instead as it highlights the refcount semantics in these operations. The new API guarantees protection against the cpu-hotplug operation, but it doesn't guarantee serialized access to any of the local data structures. Hence the changes needs to be reviewed. In case of pseries_add_processor/pseries_remove_processor, use cpu_maps_update_begin()/cpu_maps_update_done() as we're modifying the cpu_present_map there.
