* kprobes: move kprobe declarations to asm-generic/kprobes.hLuis R. Rodriguez2017-02-271-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Often all is needed is these small helpers, instead of compiler.h or a full kprobes.h. This is important for asm helpers, in fact even some asm/kprobes.h make use of these helpers... instead just keep a generic asm file with helpers useful for asm code with the least amount of clutter as possible. Likewise we need now to also address what to do about this file for both when architectures have CONFIG_HAVE_KPROBES, and when they do not. Then for when architectures have CONFIG_HAVE_KPROBES but have disabled CONFIG_KPROBES. Right now most asm/kprobes.h do not have guards against CONFIG_KPROBES, this means most architecture code cannot include asm/kprobes.h safely. Correct this and add guards for architectures missing them. Additionally provide architectures that not have kprobes support with the default asm-generic solution. This lets us force asm/kprobes.h on the header include/linux/kprobes.h always, but most importantly we can now safely include just asm/kprobes.h on architecture code without bringing the full kitchen sink of header files. Two architectures already provided a guard against CONFIG_KPROBES on its kprobes.h: sh, arch. The rest of the architectures needed gaurds added. We avoid including any not-needed headers on asm/kprobes.h unless kprobes have been enabled. In a subsequent atomic change we can try now to remove compiler.h from include/linux/kprobes.h. During this sweep I've also identified a few architectures defining a common macro needed for both kprobes and ftrace, that of the definition of the breakput instruction up. Some refer to this as BREAKPOINT_INSTRUCTION. This must be kept outside of the #ifdef CONFIG_KPROBES guard. For most architectures cpu_relax and barrier are the same, but on some architectures cpu_relax can add some latency. For example on power,sparc64 and arc, cpu_relax can shift the CPU towards other hardware threads in an SMT environment. On s390 cpu_relax does even more, it uses an hypercall to the hypervisor to give up the timeslice. In contrast to the SMT yielding this can result in larger latencies. In some places this latency is unwanted, so another variant "cpu_relax_lowlatency" was introduced. Before this is used in more and more places, lets revert the logic and provide a cpu_relax_yield that can be called in places where yielding is more important than latency. By default this is the same as cpu_relax on all architectures. We do this by grouping all the cpuidle code together into a new .cpuidle.text section, and then checking the address of the interrupted PC to see if it lies within that section. This commit suitably tags x86 and tile idle routines, and only adds in the minimal framework for other architectures. This means that if the hardware has registers to configure open drain or open source configuration, we use that rather than (as we did before) try to emulate it by switching the line to an input to get high impedance. This is also documented throughly in Documentation/gpio/driver.txt for those of you who did not understand one word of what I just wrote. - Start to do away with the unnecessarily complex and unitelligible ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB and ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB, another evolutional artifact from the time when the GPIO subsystem was unmaintained. Archs can now just select GPIOLIB and be done with it, cleanups to arches will trickle in for the next kernel. Some minor archs ACKed the changes immediately so these are included in this pull request. - Advancing the use of the data pointer inside the GPIO device for storing driver data by switching the PowerPC, Super-H Unicore and a few other subarches or subsystem drivers in ALSA SoC, Input, serial, SSB, staging etc to use it. - The initialization now reads the input/output state of the GPIO lines, so that each GPIO descriptor knows - if this callback is implemented - whether the line is input or output. This also reflects nicely in userspace "lsgpio". - It is now possible to name GPIO producer names, line names, from the device tree. (Platform data has been supported for a while). I bet we will get a similar mechanism for ACPI one of those days. This makes is possible to get sensible producer names for e.g. GPIO rails in "lsgpio" in userspace. New drivers: - New driver for the Loongson1. - The XLP driver now supports Broadcom Vulcan ARM64. - The IT87 driver now supports IT8620 and IT8628. - The PCA953X driver now supports Galileo Gen2. Driver improvements: - MCP23S08 was switched to use the gpiolib irqchip helpers and now also suppors level-triggered interrupts. - 74x164 and RCAR now supports the .set_multiple() callback - AMDPT was converted to use generic GPIO. - TC3589x, TPS65218, SX150X, F7188X, MENZ127, VX855, WM831X, WM8994 support the new single ended callback for open drain and in some cases open source. - Implement the .get_direction() callback for a few more drivers like PL061, Xgene. Cleanups: - Paul Gortmaker combed through the drivers and de-modularized those who are not really modules. - Move the GPIO poweroff DT bindings to the power subdir where they belong. - Rename gpio-generic.c to gpio-mmio.c, which is much more to the point.
